iPad 3d artwork and Visual

April 14, 2010

Ok, so this is the follow on from my last post about Pa

ckaging, its considerably later than expect however, I am ready to share.

The brief: Explore graphics designed for 3d application, then use our research to develop graphic and information for the new Apple iPad.

I took a typographic approach to my main design which would be applied to the sleave of the packaging. I know that the Apple logo is very iconic and would have to be very very well designed and executed for this not to make me look an amature (which is what I am). And this is exectly what I did, I decided to just have fun. The back of the sleave consists of a visual of the product to indicate what exactly it is that your buying. I know that this might seem naive that there will be some potential cunsumers that have no idea what an iPad is or what it does, so the visual has the features of the iPad on the screen of the product. Everything from the iPad to the design and layout is from scratch. There is no picture of the iPad taking from a website or or copied from anywhere, this is my work.

Please enjoy and any comments left are of value.

Awesome Product Packaging

March 4, 2010

My new, exciting brief this unit is all about product packaging.

The Brief? Simple, design packaging for the new  ipad. FRICKIN AWESOME!!!

Lucy Blake (tutor) has kindly already supplied the most amazing and inspiring 2 pages your most likely to find on the web for innovative design for packaging and product design. Product design and design for packaging is one of my favourite aspects of my design experience so far, especially technologic products and advances. How many tuts do you find from designers of all levels of competence demostrating how to reproduce the iphone or the ipod classic , nano and shuffle? How long will it be before we are all turning are hand at mastering the ipad in illustrator or programs alike? Well this is my opportunity to just that and with packaging and pos’s flooding the high streets in every village, town, city, there are more than enough reasons and abundances of inspiration to really get funky with a sort after product. welcome to the creame of the crop.

I know of abduzeedo.com with many tutorials undertaken by myself from their ever growing highly recommended section and the most fantastic inspiration source. Check this site out you will not be disappointed and if you don’t know it, get to know it. Designfeedr is new to me but as I said about abduzeedo, if you don’t know it, then get into these sites and watch your ideas grow from pure inspiration.

Please leave feedback on your favourite packaging/product designs.

Somethings in life

February 21, 2010

This was inspired from when I was voluntarily working at a graphic design company in Newcastle city centre. The orginal idea was used for a printing company called STATEX COLOUR PRINT. The theory behind colour was that sometimes in life situations, art, sport, cultures etc etc is just plain old black and white.

I used this idea and applied it to the football team that I support, whose team colours are black and white. Newcastle United are know as the following; The Black and White Army and The Magpies, for obvious reason. So no matter how colourful life is when you support The Toon Army, it’s just in black and white.

The only way to describe the passion of a Geordie and the colours we represent is this. ‘If you cut a Geordie wide open our blood doesn’t run red, IT’S BLACK AND WHITE’.

The Smothie Factory

February 20, 2010

This cool brief was all about getting part of your 5 a day. Our objective was to brand our smoothie range through market research to appeal to our target audience. My range was based on 7-18 year olds. Although my range took a more fun, less sophisticated and ultimately more playful approach I feel that I maximised my target audience potential by creating a brand name that was approachable for the higher age range and but playful and fun enough for the lower target market age bracket thus enabling maximum market protential.

These are my final visuals. The logo was produced hand rendered and scanned in at 300 dpi, later tweeking and adding some part vector to complete the transition. A simple hue and saturation change gave a quick on the fly example of how different flavour combinations could look. This is a perfect way to show a client who doesn’t like your colour palette a wide range of different variations without the leg work.

Please leave comments of all natures, all comments are valued.

Ok, so this company called NARC are an independant media company who cover North East of England music talent of all genres and styles.                                                                                                                                                                  They delivery a free monthly magazine with your standard content and reviews etc etc.

They run a competition every year on the eve of their yearly celebration with a free cd. I am HE second year student.

The Brief: NARC is the North East’s premier monthly music magazine. For the past four years students from Newcastle College have been                                                                                                                                                                 involved with designing the front and back cover for the magazine as well as a CD cover for a compilation CD to celebrate their anniversary.
This year both National Diploma students and Foundation Degree students have been asked to submit creative and individual design ideas.
